Brambo wrote a blogposting about reCAPTCHA.
Basically, it’s a normal captcha, only this one takes two words, one of which the outcome is known and one which was wrongfully interperted by whatever software is trying to digitise books for the Archive.
What can go wrong is nicely shown here… (click for a larger version)
